Baconsale Episode 50: Batman v Superman Review

Tell me, do you Baconsale? You will. Especially when we’re reviewing one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. If you haven’t seen it, don’t worry, you can still listen to the first 20 minutes — it’s completely free of spoilers. After that, the gloves and the cowls come off and we openly discuss the movie and its plot points.

Will Kent, the DC fan boy, finally be satisfied with a superhero ensemble movie? Will Joel, the Man of Steel basher, enjoy this Zack Snyder sequel? Will Jacob, the guy who watched The Force Awakens, be able to express his opinion of this movie? Press play and find out!

  1. As of this morning on Rotten tomatoes Batman v Superman critic rating dropped down to 28% and Man of Steel has 56%. In comparison, The three worst Marvel franchise movies were, 3) Iron Man 2 at 72%, 2) Hulk (2008) at 67%, and 3) Thor: The Dark World at 66%… I don’t think Man of Steel deserved to be rated below any of those three movies, and, even though I haven’t seen it,from what I’ve read and heard, I don’t think Batman V Superman could possibly be worse than any of those three train wrecks. Why is it Marvel seems to get a pass whenever they chugg out poor movies but DC gets ripped apart with critique and even their good movies get terrible ratings? Genuinely curious on opinions here.

  2. I am finally getting around to listening to the spoiler-full section of the podcast. We just rented it this past weekend, and I enjoyed it. I used to think I disagreed with Kent most on this show, but more and more, I think Jacob is who I disagree with most. I guess because Jacob is supposed to be a neutral moderator I never really got a feel for him, but after the Disney villains podcasts, and now this one… Anyway, I think I am closer to Kent than Joel for Batman v. Superman, but I probably didn’t like it quite as much as Kent did. It did have a lot of extra stuff in it.

    1. You should get Kent’s description of what’s in the Ultimate Edition, so you can get your questions answered, but not have to sit through an extra half-hour of that movie.
