Baconsale Episode 18: Spy vs. Spy vs. Spy

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to listen to our arguments regarding three super spies: James Bond, Jason Bourne and Ethan Hunt. These agents will be ranked and evaluated in a variety of spy-related categories by our assets: Joel and Kent.

As always, should you or any of your fellow listeners get enraged by our discussions, Baconsale will disavow any knowledge of your hurt feelings. Good luck.

This podcast will self-destruct in 70 minutes.

  1. I laughed so much guys, thanks! Fun topic, loved hearing your opinions. I love all three franchises, but Bond is my number three, sorry. I’m not a cheese and sleaze fan, those Bond moments just make me roll my eyes and impatiently wait the rest. Mission Impossible (lets just forget about 2) is the perfect combination of action, gadgets, humor, etc. There are aspects of all three that I love and none are perfect, but Mission Impossible is about as good as it gets for me.

  2. Hand to Hand – Bourne
Recovering Kidnapped Daughter – Hunt then Bourne (Bond doesn’t care that he has a daughter in almost every country he has spied in)
High Speed Chase – Bond then Bourne
Gadgets – Bond then Hunt – Bourne is cool because he doesn’t need gadgets
    Favorite Bauer quote – “I’m gonna need a hack-saw”
Weapons – I disagree with you. Bourne then Bond – Bond is just good with hand guns. Bourne is a sharp-shooter sniper and can turn ANYTHING into a weapon. I’m pretty sure Bourne can also probably drive tanks, arm missile systems, knife fight, etc. Bourne is good with every weapon.
Foot-Race – I was going to disagree with you, but then you convinced me. Hunt is a good runner.
    Tom Cruise Running – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odg4UFk-a58 or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zv2bAqk9PLw
Theme Song – Mission Impossible because it is so much more “quotable”.
Most likely to Settle Down – Bourne. He just wants out.
Best Villains – Bond then Hunt

  3. Make that two people bowing at the throne of Bourne, Joel. I think you have to look at it this way, if you were to take each spy and insert them into the movies of the other spies (I.e. Bourne is inserted into Goldeneye, or Bond being inserted into Mission Impossible one) which one is the only spy who would survive all three series (or survive the longest through the individual series)? It has to be Bourne. He does the most, with the very least in terms of resources, and connections.

I get you guys hate shaky cam but I think that, and your undying love and devotion for Bond apparently, may have clouded your judgement.
